For this modern-edged wedding, I designed a series of draped rooms and tunnels within the Grand Ballroom of the Cleveland Renaissance Hotel to make better use of what would have been too large of a space for the size of this event. By opening and closing certain areas of the tunnels at the proper times, this couple was able to use the room for their ceremony, then cocktail hour, then reception, followed by reusing the cocktail hour area as a lounge and dessert area after dinner was completed. Two enormous urns towered over the reception area like dripping fountains, while chrome mercury balls and mirrored surfaces created shiny reflections among the white and green florals and draping, all of which was beautifully enhanced with deep blue lighting.
